A 64-year-old man from Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into images of child sexual abuse.
On August 7, 2019, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Grand Bay-Westfield. A 64-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
On August 8, 2019, Robert Whiting appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with possession of child pornography. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Saint John Provincial Court on August 23, 2019.
The charge stems from an investigation by the New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit that began in early 2019.
The New Brunswick RCMP's ICE Unit, which includes members from the Saint John and Kennebecasis Regional Police Forces, along with the RCMP's Digital Forensic Services, the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) and the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP detachment were involved in the investigation.
