A 51-year-old man from Upper Coverdale, N.B., has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the homicide of a 19-year-old man.
On October 13, 2019, at around 10:15 p.m., the Southeast District RCMP received a report of someone causing a disturbance at a residence on Osprey Road in Upper Coverdale. When police arrived, they found a 19-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
On the evening of October 14, Donald Kyle appeared before a judge by way of a tele-remand. He was charged with the first-degree murder of Evan Straight, also of Upper Coverdale. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on October 16 at 1:30 p.m.
