Man arrested for series of break, enter, and thefts

Victoria County RCMP have arrested a man following a string of break, enter and thefts that occurred in what is known as the Old Route 5 area of Millville.

During the early morning hours of November 17, Baddeck Detachment responded to a call of a man who had entered a garage, then tried to steal the vehicle that was inside. During the investigation, police learned that a number of homes and vehicles in the area, including some in neighbouring Cape Breton County were identified as having been broken into as well. Cape Breton Regional Police assisted with this investigation.

The RCMP found a man walking along the Millville Highway. He was arrested without incident. Twenty-seven year-old Corey Patrick Blinkhorn from Sydney Mines has been charged with a number of offences related to the breaks including Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, five counts of Break and Enter, three counts of Mischief, four counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle and five counts of Trespass at Night.

Mr Blinkhorn was held in police custody and remanded into custody. He will return to Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on January 8.
