Man arrested and charged for home invasion

On May 7 at 7:09 p.m., Pictou District RCMP responded to a complaint of a break, enter and assault which occurred at a home on Sherbrooke Road in Blue Mountain. The caller reported a man forced his way into a home and assaulted a man and woman inside. The man also caused damage inside the house and damaged a vehicle that was parked outside. RCMP made an immediate patrol to the area and located the suspect. He was arrested and was taken to cells.

The woman told police she was inside the home when the suspect entered and assaulted her. The male resident of the home was outside and saw the suspect enter the home. He ran inside, and confronted the suspect. The two men struggled and the suspect left the home on his own, on foot. He was arrested by police shortly after he left the home. The suspect is known to the victims.

Shane David Dunn, 44, of Pictou County has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Assault
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm

Dunn was held in custody and appeared in Pictou Provincial Court on May 8. He was remanded and is scheduled to return to court on May 28. The investigation is ongoing.
