La Loche RCMP – Man charged with aggravated assault

On July 6, 2019, at approximately 3:00 p.m., La Loche RCMP responded to a 911 call from a man reporting he had been stabbed on the Clearwater Dene First Nation. An adult male armed with a machete had broken into his home and assaulted him while he was sleeping.

La Loche RCMP police officers attended his house and observed that the victim sustained extensive injuries, including lacerations to his face. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment by local EMS.

The suspect fled the residence after the assault and was arrested a short time later.

La Loche RCMP have charged Daniel Norman Lemaigre with:

Break and enter to commit an indictable offence, Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;

  • Aggravated assault, Section 268 of the Criminal Code;
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house, Section 349(1) of the Criminal Code;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88 of the Criminal Code;
  • Carry a concealed weapon, Section 90 of the Criminal Code;
  • Unlawfully at large, Section 145(1)(b) of the Criminal Code;
  • Resist arrest, Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code;
  • Uttering threats, Section 264.1 of the Criminal Code;
  • Assault, Section 266 of the Criminal Code; and
  • Mischief, Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.

Daniel Norman Lemaigre will next appear in La Loche Provincial Court via video on July 11, 2019.
