Leduc RCMP on scene at serious collision - Update

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Leduc RCMP and emergency services responded to a head on collision between a truck and a car on Highway 39 west of Range Road 272.

The 61-year-old male driver of the car was declared deceased on scene. The passenger in the car was transported via STARS air ambulance to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The 72-year-old female driver of the truck was transported to hospital via ground ambulance with serious injuries.

All lanes of travel on Highway 39 are reopened.

The cause of this collision remains under investigation. Further updates will not be provided.

The RCMP with emergency services are on scene at a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 39 between Range Road 272 and Range Road 273. Both east and westbound traffic on Highway 39 are currently being re-routed.

Traffic is expected to be diverted for several hours. A collision analyst is en route to the collision scene to conduct an examination. The RCMP responded to this collision at approximately 7:30 a.m.

There are no further details available at this time.
