On November 2 at approximately 5 p.m., RCMP members were conducting traffic control near a collision scene in Aldersville. A vehicle approached the police vehicles and was told the road was closed, when police noted the driver was showing signs of impairment by alcohol. Police also seized open liquor and a shotgun that was not being properly transported in vehicle.
The driver, an 85-year-old man from Aldersville, NS, was brought back to Chester RCMP Detachment for a breath test. He was held in custody until released to a family member. He is scheduled to attend Bridgewater Provincial Court on January 15, 2020, on charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Failure to Comply With a Breath Demand.
Further charges may be laid.
