Greenwater RCMP recover stolen vehicles, firearms and over 1000 rounds of ammunition in central Saskatchewan

Greenwater RCMP have laid charges against three individuals who were responsible for a series of break and enters, weapons trafficking, theft and property offences in the Greenwater Detachment area from Sept. 26 to Sept. 29, 2019.

The following criminal offences were committed over the course of three days in the Kelvington, Archerwill and Wadena area:

  • Break and enter into 10 homes and garages;
  • Break and enter into 8 vehicles;
  • Theft of two vehicles;
  • Theft of three long-barrelled firearms;
  • Theft of one compound bow and arrows; and
  • Theft of over 1000 rounds of ammunition.

Greenwater RCMP have recovered both stolen vehicles, the compound bow and arrows, and over 1000 rounds of ammunition. In addition, officers have recovered two stolen firearms which had been sawed-off when located. The third stolen firearm has yet to be located.

Blaze Ahpay (DOB: 1998-02-17) from the Rose Valley Detachment area, has been charged with Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Possession of a Firearm contrary to Order and Possession of Stolen Property. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Rose Valley on Nov. 13, 2019.

Two male youth from the Rose Valley Detachment area have been charged with a combined total of 43 offences, which include Break and Enter into a Dwelling House, Break and Enter to Steal a Firearm and Theft of Motor Vehicle. One youth was remanded and remains in custody. The other youth was remanded and released by Provincial Court in Rose Valley on Oct. 9, 2019.

Police continue to search for two additional suspects involved in the series of crimes from Sept. 26 to Sept. 29, 2019.

The investigation is ongoing.

Greenwater RCMP would like to thank members of the public for reporting these crimes to police. This investigation began as a result of a phone call made to police about a stolen vehicle.
