Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP charges two men for robbery hoax at Needs Convenience

On October 11, 2019, Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP charged two men from the town for an reported armed robbery that occurred at Needs Convenience in Grand Falls-Windsor on August 31, 2019.

The investigation revealed that the reported robbery was a hoax, staged by the cashier and an acquaintance.

On October 10, 2019, 21-year-old Anthony Crann, was arrested. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, as well as public mischief. Crann was released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

Twenty-year-old Cody Torraville faces a number of charges stemming from the incident, including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to abide by conditions of court orders. He is currently in custody serving a sentence for other criminal matters and will be brought before a judge at a later date.

On August 31, 2019, officers arrested and charged 20-year-old Bailey Haggett of Grand Falls-Windsor for the reported robbery. Further police investigation cleared Haggett of any involvement and the charges were withdrawn.
