A light-colored pick-up truck was observed departing the scene

On Saturday, September 13, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Ferryland RCMP were called to a break, enter and theft at Witless Bay Home Hardware.

A gate to the storage yard was forced open and a large supply of pressure treated plywood was stolen.

A light-colored pick-up truck was observed departing the scene, heading south on Route 10, and was noticeably weighted down in the back. The vehicle is described as being loud, possibly with exhaust issues or having a diesel engine, and may have front-end or rear-end damage from forcing the gate open.

The incident took place between 12:25 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. The investigation is continuing.

A number of vehicles were driving on the roadway during the incident and police suspect there may be witnesses. If anyone has any information about this incident, including dash camera footage, please call Ferryland RCMP at 709-432-2440.
