Cumberland County man charged with cannabis offences

On Friday November 1, Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), with the assistance of Amherst Police, and members of Cumberland District RCMP, arrested a 30-year-old man without incident for offences under the Cannabis Act.

Following a tip, police obtained a search warrant for a home on Tyndal Rd. Police seized a large quantity of cannabis, individually packed cannabis edibles, shatter, other THC concentrates, cash, and four firearms with ammunition.

Jacob William Warren Chapman, 30, of East Amherst is charged with the following offences:

  • Distributing Illicit Cannabis
  • Distribute More Than 30 grams of Dried Cannabis
  • Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Altering or Offering to Alter the Physical Properties of Cannabis

Police expect to lay charges in relation to the firearms offences at a later date.

Chapman was released from custody following his arrest and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on January 20, 2020.

The investigation is ongoing.
