Locked! No valuables inside

The Codiac Regional RCMP is encouraging the public to lock their vehicle's doors this holiday season.

Starting at noon on December 12, 2019, the Codiac RCMP Auxiliaries will be at CF Champlain Mall placing "Locked! No Valuables Inside" placards on vehicle windshields in the parking lot.

"We are asking people to keep the cards and place them in their car or truck windows when the vehicle is being left unattended." Says Eric Larose, Codiac RCMP Community Policing Unit Manager. "The cards alert everyone that the vehicle is locked and that there are no valuables inside."

Valuables left in an unlocked vehicle can be an easy target for thieves.

People can help reduce the risk of their vehicle being targeted by following the recommendations on the back of the card. They are, closing your windows and locking your doors, never leave your vehicle running and unattended, park in a busy well-lit area, remove personal belongings and to report suspicious activity.
