Clarenville RCMP investigates carjacking and assault of woman

Today, just before noon, Clarenville RCMP was dispatched to a report of a carjacking that happened on Manitoba Drive, in Clarenville.

A 65-year-old woman was assaulted by an unknown man, who attempted to take her purse but was unsuccessful. The man got into the woman's vehicle and drove off, stealing the vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a 4-door gold colored 2006 Ford Focus with licence plate JHR486.

The man is described as having a tattoo on the left side of his neck and was wearing a black leather jacket.

Police are currently searching for the man and vehicle.
