Charges pending in fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision

Charges are pending against a driver involved in a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that happened on Pictou Landing Rd. in Pictou Landing at approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 50-year-old female pedestrian from Pictou Landing was struck by a pick-up truck. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Pictou Landing, was uninjured. He was arrested at the scene without incident for Impaired Driving Causing Death and remains in custody.

A collision analyst is on scene and the investigation is ongoing. The section of the roadway between Birch St. and Eagle St. remains closed and is not expected to reopen before 1 p.m. Traffic from both directions is being asked to turn around.
