Today, just after midnight, Burin Peninsula RCMP received information from a concerned citizen who suspected an impaired driver.
Officers were on patrol and quickly located the described vehicle on Ville Marie Drive in Marystown and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, a 35-year-old man from Marystown, was found to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought back to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were one and a half times the legal limit.
Police suspended the man's driver's licence and seized and impounded his vehicle. He was released from custody with a scheduled court appearance of January 29, 2020, where he will answer to charges of impaired driving.
RCMP NL thanks the public for continuing to report suspected impaired drivers.
