News release

On October 3, 2019, at approximately 9:30 am, Berens River RCMP received a call that two individuals were on a roadway in the community, and the caller was worried about their safety.

When officers arrived, medical personnel from the Berens River nursing station were already at the location, trying to revive one of the pedestrians who had been struck by a vehicle. The 29-year-old female pedestrian, from Berens River, was later pronounced deceased on scene.

It is believed that a truck, driven by a 62-year-old male, was driving in the community when he came upon the pedestrian. He made efforts to avoid her but struck the 29-year-old female.

An autopsy is being scheduled and RCMP continue to investigate.
