Bay St. George RCMP arrests two men for impaired driving within hours of each other

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on November 21, 2019, Bay St. George RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver on Carolina Avenue in Stephenville. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver, a forty-six-year-old man of Kippens, was suspected of drug impaired driving. Roadside field sobriety tests were administered and he was arrested for drug impaired driving.

A drug recognition evaluation was conducted and the man now faces charges of drug impaired driving. Police seized and impounded the vehicle and suspended the man's driver's licence. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on November 22, 2019, Bay St. George RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver on Main Street in Stephenville. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver, a 19-year-old man of St. Fintan's, was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol.

He was taken back to the detachment and provided breath samples nearly twice the legal limit. His vehicle was seized and impounded and his driver's license was suspended. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
