On October 6, 2019, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Bay Roberts RCMP was conducting speed enforcement on the Veterans Memorial Highway. Police observed a vehicle, in the oncoming lane, passing a number of other vehicles.
Radar readings were obtained. The vehicle was found to be travelling at 160 kms/hr in the 100 kms/hr zone. Police conducted a traffic stop and charged a 21-year-old Spaniard's Bay man with excessive speeding. His driver's license was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.
