Bay Roberts RCMP to address public safety during annual Bay Wheels Car Show

May 30, 2019
Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

The annual Bay Wheels Car Show is taking place in Bay Roberts from June 1-2, 2019. This event brings together spectators who enjoy specialty and antique vehicles. Over the past few years, the RCMP received increased calls as a result of egregious and dangerous driving behavior during this event.

This weekend, Bay Roberts RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services will have additional resources in place and will be enforcing the Highway Traffic Act and Criminal Code in relation to dangerous and impaired driving offences. A zero-tolerance initiative will be enforced for dangerous driving behavior. Drivers caught squealing tires, racing or speeding excessively will receive fines, vehicle impoundments and driver's licence suspensions.

Bay Roberts RCMP looks forward to making this event safe and enjoyable for everyone. In partnership with the RCMP, Eastbound Park in Avondale is opening their track, free of charge, on June 2nd, for driving enthusiasts. This event will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30.
