Arborg RCMP respond to fatal two-vehicle collision

At approximately 3:15 pm, on December 8, 2019, Arborg RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway7 at the intersection of Road 107 North, located approximately five kilometers south of Fraserwood, in the RM of Armstrong.

The investigation has determined that a pickup truck, being driven by a 23-year-old male from the RM of St. Andrews, was heading westbound on Road 107 North when it entered the intersection and collided with a southbound minivan, being driven by a 66-year-old male from Winnipeg.

The 23-year-old male driver and his passenger suffered only minor injuries and were treated on scene by EMS. The minivan was carrying 6 occupants at the time of the collision and a 38-year-old male passenger, from Fisher River, was pronounced deceased at the scene after he was ejected from the vehicle. The remaining occupants were transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The 23-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested on scene and taken into police custody. He was later released with numerous court imposed conditions and scheduled to appear in court at a later date on charges including Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death and five counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.

Arborg RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
