Alleged threat against Bow Valley High School - Update

The Cochrane RCMP were in attendance at the Bow Valley High School today to support students and their families as they returned to school. There were zero incidents to report at this school, and it was business as usual. While this investigation is still ongoing, the RCMP would like to assure the students and their families that these allegations are taken very seriously. The RCMP are working very closely with the Bow Valley High School administration, the student, the students' family, that is alleged to have made the comments; community support services have been offered.

"Threats that come to our attention, the way that these threats came to our attention, can be very difficult to manage" said Cst. Kary Moore with the Cochrane RCMP "If you are a witness to this event or if you have any information, you are urged to contact the Cochrane RCMP. Sharing information that you heard and you're not sure if its true or not, can have far reaching consequences to all involved."

These investigations remain a high priority for the Cochrane RCMP, and we remind students to report any safety concerns to school administration and/or RCMP immediately. The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

Alleged Threat Against Bow Valley High School

Over the weekend the Cochrane RCMP became aware of an alleged threat that was made towards the Bow Valley High School in Cochrane for September 24, 2019. At this time, the RCMP are working with school staff to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged threat.

There will be an increase in police resources at the school on Tuesday September 24 to help ease any student or parent concerns.

The investigation is ongoing. The RCMP treats investigations such as these very seriously and will continue to take appropriate action to ensure public safety.
