Aklavik RCMP arrest man following assault, charges pending

Aklavik RCMP have arrested a man in relation to an assault that left another man with serious, life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 4:40 PM, on Sunday October 6th, Aklavik RCMP received a call for service regarding an injured 36-year-old man who was lying on the ground, in front of a residence.

Upon arrival on scene, the victim was en route to the local health centre by community members. The victim was transferred by Medevac to Yellowknife, and Edmonton a few hours later to treat a serious, life-threatening injury.

RCMP started an investigation and subsequently, arrested a 28-year-old man. The man has been remanded and escorted to Yellowknife. Charges are pending.

No weapons were involved in this incident, and this was not a random act as both parties are known to each other. The investigation is ongoing.
