Airdrie RCMP lay charges in school playground arson

Airdrie RCMP have arrested and charged a female youth with numerous offences after a playground was set on fire in the city.

On August 15, 2019 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Airdrie RCMP and Airdrie Fire Department were dispatched to a fire at a playground of a local school located on Summerfield Blvd in Airdrie, Alta. Upon arrival, a female youth was located and arrested for this incident.

A 14-year-old female from Airdrie, Alta. has been charged with the following offences:

  • Arson
  • Assault with a weapon (x3)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

She has been released on conditions and will be appearing in Airdrie provincial court on September 19, 2019.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Airdrie Fire Department.
