Watson Lake RCMP investigating aggravated assault

Early in the morning on December 29, 2017, Watson Lake RCMP responded to a reported assault that occurred near the local ski hill at Mount Maichen.

A man had been physically assaulted and left outside in extremely cold temperatures. The victim was found by a local resident and was taken to the Watson Lake Hospital, where he was treated for several serious injuries, including severe frostbite. He was later transported to Whitehorse by air ambulance for further treatment.

A 23-year-old man was arrested by Watson Lake RCMP shortly after the incident.

Charged is Christopher Richard Greek of Watson Lake. He is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault Section 268 (2) Criminal Code
  • Driving While Disqualified Section 259(4) Criminal Code
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Section 733.1(1) Criminal Code
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking Section 145(3) Criminal Code

He was remanded in custody, pending his next court appearance.

The investigation is continuing.
