Virden RCMP respond to fatal motor vehicle rollover

At approximately 3:50 a.m. on August 10, 2018, Virden RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 2, located eight kilometres east of Pipestone, MB.

The investigation has determined that a pickup truck, being driven by a 23-year-old male from Weyburn, SK, was travelling westbound on Hwy 2 when it lost control and rolled into the ditch.

There were three other male occupants in the pickup truck, ages 27, 32, and 39, all from Weyburn, SK. The 39-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other two occupants suffered minor injuries.

The 23-year-old driver, who was not injured, was arrested for Impaired Driving Causing Death and remains in police custody.

The Virden RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
