Update: Yellowknife RCMP identify, arrest and charge robbery suspect

Yellowknife RCMP have identified, arrested and charged a suspect from a late night armed robbery this past winter.

On January 3, 2018, a lone male walked into the Reddi Mart in downtown Yellowknife and demanded money from the cashier at gunpoint. The cashier complied and the suspect fled on foot.

After an in-depth investigation by Yellowknife General Investigative Section, the suspect has successfully been identified as Andrew Jim Roberts of Thornhill, British Columbia.

Roberts, 34, was arrested without incident on June 29th, and appeared before a Justice of the Peace on Saturday, June 30th. Roberts is charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a restricted firearm without a license.

Roberts' next court appearance is on Wednesday, July 4th at 9:30 am in Justice of the Peace Court.
