Two vehicle crash claims two lives and sends two people to hospital

The Southeast District RCMP is investigating a two vehicle crash on July 17, 2018, that claimed the lives of two men and sent two women to hospital with critical injuries.

Shediac RCMP responded to the crash at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Highway 15 near Shemogue, N.B. The preliminary investigation indicates that a SUV carrying four people, heading westbound, was attempting to pass when it collided with another SUV making a left hand turn into a private driveway.

Two men in the passing vehicle, an 82-year-old from Kedgwick River, N.B. and an 82-year-old man from Ontario died at the scene. Two women from Kedgwick, N.B., ages 69 and 80, who were also passengers in the vehicle are in hospital in critical condition.

The two occupants of the SUV that was struck, a 36-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, both from Moncton, were treated at the scene.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting in the investigation.
