A 31-year-old man from Pointe-Verte and a 47-year-old woman from Grande-Anse are dead and three people are injured following a head on collision in Bathurst.
On February 28, 2018, at approximately 7:35 a.m., the Northeast District RCMP Bathurst Detachment responded to a report of a head-on collision between two pickup trucks on Highway 11. The man driving the southbound pickup truck and a woman who was a passenger in the northbound pickup truck died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Two passengers in the southbound truck and the driver of the northbound truck were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours as emergency crews attended the scene and has since reopened. Slippery road conditions may have been a contributing factor in the collision.
The investigation is continuing.
