Sanikiluaq, Nunavut FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RCMP in Sanikiluaq are responding to a critical situation presently unfolding in the community of Sanikiluaq.
For the safety of persons in the community, RCMP are asking residents to remain away from the area of the 100 block area.
Community residents are asked to shelter in place and remain inside their residence.
The community school is also under locked down.
V Division Major Crime Unit as well as the V Division Containment team are on the ground in Sanikiluaq assisting with the situation and have a residence contained in the 100 area of Sanikiluaq. The "D" Division Emergency Response Team are also enroute to assist in the situation.
The RCMP's V Division Critical Incident Command system is activated and crisis negotiators are actively involved.
