RCMP take three impaired drivers off the roads this past weekend

Over the weekend, RCMP members arrested three people for impaired driving.

On August 4, 2018, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Placentia RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash in Placentia, resulting in a 53-year-old man being arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mgs%.

On August 5, 2018, two more impaired drivers were apprehended.

Bay St. George RCMP received a complaint of an impaired driver in Stephenville at approximately 2:00 a.m. A 53-year-old man was arrested for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and refused to provide breath samples. He has been charged with refusal to provide breath samples.

Approximately an hour and a half later, Holyrood RCMP conducted a traffic stop in Avondale that resulted in a 20-year old man being arrested and charged for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mgs%.

Vehicles were impounded for 30 days and 7-day licence suspensions were issued to each of the drivers. All three men have court appearances set for October, 2018.
