Pills seized by the West District RCMP in Carleton County last year have been confirmed to contain furanyl-fentanyl.
In September 2017, police seized a quantity of pills during an investigation into an unrelated matter near Hartland. Following a lab analysis, Health Canada confirmed the pills seized contained furanyl-fentanyl.
The pills seized are described as approximately 1 cm in diameter with the words "Percocet 5" written on them. The pills are light blue in colour.
The discovery of these pills is of particular concern because they were labeled as something other than what they are. Those who choose to take illegal prescription drugs could be at risk of serious harm because they may be ingesting something other than what they believe they are taking.
The investigation is continuing.
Anyone with any information on the sale of these pills, or who has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the Woodstock Detachment of the West District RCMP at 506-325-3000 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by texting TIP212 + your message to 'CRIMES' (274637), or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
