RCMP seeking to identify suspect in connection with copper theft

The West District RCMP Woodstock Detachment is asking for the public's help in identifying those responsible for a significant theft of copper in Lower Woodstock, N.B.

On February 23, 2018, shortly before 6:30 p.m., the Woodstock RCMP received a report of approximately 500 lbs of copper discovered on the bank of the Saint John River in Lower Woodstock. It was determined the copper had been stolen from the nearby Cosy Cabins motel, causing significant damage to the motel's electrical and water systems.

Police believe the suspect or suspects would have spent several hours at the motel in order to remove the copper. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between February 20, 2018, and February 23, 2018. The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information on this incident, or who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Cosy Cabins motel, is asked to contact the West District RCMP Woodstock Detachment at 506-325-3000.
