RCMP reminding drivers to ensure loads in trailers and open-bed trucks are secured

Northeast District RCMP has received several complaints recently about vehicles travelling on New Brunswick roadways while transporting unsecured items and equipment in and behind vehicles.

Under the Motor Vehicle Act, drivers are required to secure items with straps or rope, including lawn mowers and snow blowers, being transported in trailers or open-bed pickup trucks. Drivers who fail to do so face a $172.50 fine.

If you see anyone travelling in a vehicle while towing or carrying unsecured items on New Brunswick roads, please contact your local police.
