News release

Halifax District RCMP is partnering up with the Eastern Shore Family Resource Association and the IWK Child Safety Link to help improve child safety in vehicles.

On Thursday, June 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Halifax District RCMP will conduct an educational traffic checkpoint on Highway 7 in Porters Lake where car seat inspectors from our partner agencies will be present to ensure your car seat is suitable for your child and installed properly. If you would like to have your child's car seat inspected by a trained inspector, you will be re-directed in to the parking lot of the Porters Lake Shopping Centre.

"People often make mistakes with choosing the right car seat, installing it correctly and properly securing the harness," says Cst. Blair Dole, Community Policing Officer, Halifax District RCMP. "By attending the free awareness event, it will improve your child's safety while they are in your vehicle."
