Person dies in a vehicle fire near Deer Lake, investigation ongoing

On July 30, 2018, just before 2:00 p.m., RCMP in Deer Lake responded to a vehicle fire in a wooded area off of the TCH, east of Deer Lake.

The fire was extinguished without spreading beyond the vehicle. Police, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, continue to investigate the matter as a sudden death of one individual.

Assistance was received from Provincial forestry personnel, the Deer Lake Volunteer Fire Department, and the Deer Lake Ground Search and Rescue.
