Man wanted on warrants for aggravated assault arrested

Northeast District RCMP have arrested a 36-year-old man wanted on a Canada-Wide warrant.

Zachariah Russell was arrested just before 9 a.m., on July 31, at a residence in Gloucester Junction, N.B., near Bathurst.

On July 12, 2018, a Canada-Wide arrest warrant was issued for 36-year-old Zachariah Russell of Bathurst, N.B., in Bathurst Provincial Court. Russell has been charged with aggravated assault, two counts of uttering threats and mischief. The warrant and charges are in relation to a stabbing.

On July 8, 2018, shortly after 12:30 a.m., police received a report of a man being stabbed several times outside a residence on Gloucester Junction Road, in Gloucester Junction, N.B. The victim was taken to hospital, treated for his injuries and released. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

Zachariah Russell remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Bathurst Provincial Court on August 1, 2018.
