Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick

News release

A man was taken to hospital after his tractor trailer went off the road in Saint-Quentin, N.B.

On January 10, 2018, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Northeast District RCMP responded to a single tractor trailer crash on Route 17 in Saint-Quentin.

The driver and only occupant of the tractor trailer, a man in his 20's from Ontario was trapped in the vehicle for a short period of time. Police from the Saint-Quentin detachment as well as firefighters from the Saint-Quentin Fire Department were able to free the man from the truck. The man was airlifted from the Charlo airport and was taken to the hospital in Moncton with serious injuries.

It is believed that the crash occurred when the truck that was hauling peat moss, travelling southbound on Route 17, left the road and ended up in the ditch. Route 17 was reduced to one lane of traffic for a period of time, but is now back to two lanes of travel.

The investigation into the exact cause of the crash is continuing.
