Man killed, four injured in collision, Renous, N.B.

A 52-year-old man from Miramichi is dead and four people are injured following a collision near Renous.

On February 3, 2018, around 2:20 p.m., the Northeast District RCMP Blackville Detachment responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 8 near Renous. A car travelling north had stopped for wildlife on the shoulder of the road when it was rear-ended by a second car. A passenger in the first car died at the scene. The driver and a second passenger in the first car, as well as a driver and a passenger in the second car were taken to hospital. The passenger of the second vehicle was later transported to the IWK hospital in Halifax for further treatment.

The highway was closed for several hours as emergency crews attended the scene. The highway reopened around 11:30 p.m. An collision reconstructionalist also attended.

The investigation is continuing.
