Man charged with first degree murder after discovery of body

The RCMP's Major Crime Unit arrested a 44-year-old man on the evening of September 27, 2018, in connection with an investigation into the discovery of a body on September 26 on West Lane in Moncton.

Claude Blanchard of Moncton appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on September 28, and was charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of Candice Kennedy-Faguy of Moncton. The 35-year-old woman had been reported missing to police on September 23.

Blanchard has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to return to Moncton Provincial Court on October 19, 2018, at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is continuing.
