A 24-year-old Moncton man has been charged following a bank robbery in Richibucto, N.B.
On January 29, 2018, shortly after 4 p.m., the Southeast District RCMP Richibucto Detachment received a report of a robbery at the Royal Bank of Canada on Main Street. A man had entered the bank and demanded money from an employee before fleeing in a car with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A short time later, a car matching the description of the one involved in the bank robbery was located by police at a coffee shop in Bouctouche. A 26-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both from Moncton, were arrested at the scene. The woman was later released pending a court appearance on May 8, 2018.
Jody Sanipass, a 24-year-old man, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on January 30, 2018 and was charged with robbery and wearing a mask while committing an offence. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on February 6, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. for a plea date.
The investigation is continuing.
