On October 10, 2018 Humboldt RCMP received a complaint of a theft of fuel from a farm yard in the RM of St. Peter. Over the following 24-hour period, Humboldt RCMP received several additional complaints of thefts and break and enters in the surrounding rural area.
The next day, October 11, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Humboldt RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 20 north of Humboldt, with a suspect vehicle that was believed to be related to the aforementioned investigations. As an officer approached the truck, the driver fled the scene. The officer was not injured during this incident. RCMP did not pursue the vehicle for public safety reasons.
Targeted patrols were conducted in Humboldt and the surrounding area in attempts to locate the suspect and/or the vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located abandoned in a wooded area in south Humboldt. The truck was confirmed to be stolen out of Raymore.
Several additional complaints about a male entering homes and yards in the area were received during this period.
RCMP located the male suspect on the 200 block of 10th street, a foot pursuit ensued and officers took the male suspect into custody nearby at approximately 2 p.m.
28-year-old Braeden Cole Dosch, of Annaheim, was arrested and remanded into custody. Dosch will make his first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Friday, October 12, 2018. Dosch is facing the following charges as a result of this investigation:
- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000- Sec. 354(1)(a) Criminal Code (CC)
- Break, Enter and Theft- Residence- Section 348(1)(b) CC
- Theft Under $5000- Section 334(b) CC
- Mischief Over $5000 (4 counts) – Section 430(3) CC
- Resisting Arrest/Obstruction (2 counts)- Section 129(a) CC
No injuries were reported during these events.
The Humboldt RCMP would like to thank the rural and urban communities for their assistance in reporting suspicious activity, and in turn, helping solving these crimes. The Humboldt RCMP believe that the majority of the rural thefts in our RMs over the past 2-3 days are related; however, the investigation is still ongoing.
