The RCMP New Brunswick Federal and Serious Organized Crime Unit has arrested five people as the result of an investigation into drug trafficking in Northern New Brunswick.
Five men were arrested on April 24, 2018 in various locations in New Brunswick. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are anticipated.
The investigation into the trafficking of cocaine on the Acadian Peninsula and in Restigouche, Madawaska and Victoria counties started in November of 2016. Investigators determined that the drugs were linked back to the Hells Angels in Québec.
"Outlaw motorcycle groups are a priority for the RCMP. We continue to monitor outlaw motorcycle gangs' interest in expanding any operation and their criminal activity," says Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh, RCMP New Brunswick. "As a result of this priority, we were able to make arrests related to drug trafficking in New Brunswick".
Those arrested on April 24 are not members of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang but police believe, through the course of their investigation, are linked to outlaw motorcycle gangs in New Brunswick and Québec.
Arrested this morning were:
- 58-year-old man, Allardville, N.B.
- 45-year-old man, Allardville, N.B.
- 43-year-old man, Évangéline, N.B.
- 55-year-old man, Allardville, N.B.
- 40-year-old man, Allardville, N.B.
They will all appear in Bathurst Provincial Court on April 25 at 9:30 a.m.
The RCMP investigation, with assistance from the Edmundston Police Force, took place simultaneously as a Sûreté du Québec investigation into outlaw motorcycle groups but was a separate investigation. The two police agencies did share information during the course of their investigations.
The RCMP in New Brunswick continues to work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies and the province of New Brunswick to disrupt and dismantle organized crime groups that are harming our communities with illegal activities.
