The Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit recovered several stolen vehicles in unrelated incidents on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12.
On Jan. 11, 2018, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Crime Reduction Unit assisted Beaverlodge RCMP in locating and apprehending a male in a vehicle that had been stolen from the city of Grande Prairie hours earlier.
The 38-year-old male of Grande Prairie has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Flight From Police
- Drive While Disqualified
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Cocaine
- Drive Uninsured Vehicle On Highway
He is to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Jan. 22, 2018.
A short time later on Jan. 11, 2018 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Crime Reduction Unit tracked a stolen pickup truck to a rural location in the Bezanson area. With the assistance of Police Dog Services, two males were taken into custody without incident.
A 38-year-old male of Sundre, Alta. has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000
- Flight From Police
- Drive While Unauthorized
A 23-year-old male of Debolt, Alta. has been charged with the following offence:
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000
Both men are to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Jan. 29, 2018.
On Jan. 12, 2018 At approximately 12:30 a.m., The Crime Reduction Unit with the assistance of general duty members located a stolen vehicle in a hotel parking lot in the West side of Grande Prairie. A female driver was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
The 20-year-old female of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000
- Fail to Comply With Probation Order
She is to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Jan. 29, 2018.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 12, 2018 Grande Prairie RCMP members located a stolen vehicle in the Patterson area of Grande Prairie. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it began driving in a dangerous and erratic manner. Due to safety concerns to the public police did not pursue the vehicle. The vehicle was located a short time later by the Crime Reduction Unit and was tracked to a location in Clairmont where the driver was taken into custody without incident.
The 43-year-old male of Grande Prairie, has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of a Weapon Contrary To Order
- Possession of a Weapon Dangerous To The Public
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Flight From Police
- Drive While Disqualified
- 6 Counts of Failing to Comply With Recognizance
He was remanded to custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Jan. 17, 2018.
