Couple and baby located

June 5, 2018
Edmundston, New Brunswick

News release

A couple and baby that police were looking for to confirm their well-being have been located.

On June 2, 2018, police from the Saint-Léonard detachment received a report from the Quality Inn Motel in Saint-André, N.B., that they believed a woman had delivered a baby in one of the rooms being rented. No one had seen the woman and the baby and there was concern for their well-being. A man had also been staying at the motel in the same room.

Police located the man, woman and baby at a motel in Edmundston late in the evening of June 4.

The pair were arrested and are expected to appear in Edmundston court this afternoon in relation to care for the baby. The baby was taken to the hospital for observation.

Two dogs were also discovered and were in poor health. They were seized and turned over to animal care authorities.

The investigation is continuing.
