Cocaine seized by Pictou RCMP

On September 17, Pictou District RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious man at a store in Central West River. Police attended the location, and the investigation resulted in 33-year-old Shawn Casey Smith of Charlottetown, PEI being arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.

was searched incidental to arrest and police located and seized a large quantity of powder cocaine was found in Smith's possession. Further investigation revealed that Smith had been involved in a vehicle collision earlier in the morning in Colchester County. Police obtained a warrant to search the vehicle, and as a result of the items seized, have charged Smith with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on November 5.

The investigation is ongoing.
