Charges laid following police searches

News release

On January 9, 2018, the Cumberland County Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with assistance from Amherst Police Department, searched homes on Edgewood Ave. and Prince Arthur St. Police seized quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, marihuana, cash and drug paraphernalia during the search. In total, three men were arrested.

Douglas Anthony Montrose, 47, of Amherst, was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Trafficking Methamphetamine

Montrose was held for court and has since been released on bail with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on February 5.

Jeffrey Paul Richards, 52, of Amherst, was charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Production of Marihuana

Richards was held for court and has since been released on bail with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial court on February 5.

A third man, Jason Leroy LeBlanc, 41, of Amherst, was arrested and charged with Break, Enter and Theft. He has been remanded into custody and will be scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
