Bay St. George RCMP arrest two impaired snowmobilers over the long weekend

On December 30, 2017, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Bay St. George RCMP were patrolling the Port au Port Peninsula when they stopped a snowmobile in West Bay near Piccadilly.

A 28-year-old man from Ontario was arrested for impaired driving. He provided breath samples of nearly three times the legal limit. The man was released on a Promise to Appear in Stephenville Provincial Court on February 19, 2018.

On New Year's Eve, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers were patrolling Piccidilly when they attempted to stop a snowmobile being driven on the road.

A 50-year-old man from the community was arrested for impaired driving. He is also charged with two counts of Obstruction for attempting to flee the traffic stop and misleading the police.

The man was remanded to custody due to two previous convictions for impaired driving as well as an outstanding impaired driving charge and arrest warrant from another province. He was released by the Court on January 2, 2018 and is set to appear in Stephenville Provincial Court on January 22, 2018.
