Between December 2 and December 10, 2018, a man committed a series of thefts from businesses in Banff and Canmore. These thefts involved the man entering businesses and stealing wallets and purses, from areas accessed by the public and from areas restricted to employees.

The suspect has used credit cards obtained from stolen wallets to purchase items at various businesses within Banff and Canmore. The suspect has been described as being very pushy with staff and insistent that purchases via credit card be separated into amounts less than $100.00 in order to permit use of the tap feature.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 30-40 years old
  • Approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall
  • Short, dark hair
  • Clean-shaven face

Banff RCMP wish to warn the public to closely guard wallets and purses, and to remind businesses to be vigilant to persons attempting to access restricted areas of business premises or using credit cards in a suspicious manner.

The Banff RCMP are seeking information from the public that may lead towards the identifcation or location of this suspect. Please contact the Banff RCMP at (403) 763-6600 with any information.
