Yellowknife RCMP make arrest following theft of work truck

Yellowknife RCMP have arrested and charged a suspect in relation to the theft of a work truck that occurred earlier this month.

On Sunday, October 1st at approximately 5:00 am, a 2005 Ford Lariat work truck was reported to have been stolen from the former Giant Mine site. RCMP officers later located that vehicle abandoned with the keys in the ignition near the Tin Can Hill walking trails.

Anthony Wayne King, 29, of Yellowknife, was arrested on Friday and brought before a Justice of the Peace. King has been charged with one count of Sec. 354(1)(a) CC – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 and one count of Sec. 259(4) CC – Driving while Disqualified/Prohibited.

King was released on a Justice of the Peace's undertaking and will return to Yellowknife Territorial Court on November 28th.

Two other suspects in relation to the stolen vehicle have also been charged with one count of Sec. 335 CC – Taking Motor Vehicle without Consent. Darwin Grandjambe, 35, of Yellowknife and Carla Rabesca, 26, of Ndilo were released on a promise to appear.

They are scheduled to appear in Yellowknife Territorial Court on November 14th.
