Yellowknife RCMP assist to rescue man trapped in garbage truck

Shortly before 6:00am on Tuesday, September 26th, Yellowknife RCMP responded to a report of a person believed to have fallen from a dumpster into a garbage truck.

Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and stopped the garbage truck in a parking lot on Old Airport Road where they could hear a voice coming from inside the trash collection area.

Yellowknife RCMP contacted City of Yellowknife Fire Division and Emergency Medical Services to assist in removing the adult male from the garbage truck. A 42-year-old man was safely removed and transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital for observation and treatment of minor injuries.

The incident is not considered to be a criminal matter and the investigation is closed.
